Press Release

ROSENDAL-based Umoe Schat-Harding AS, the world’s leading manufacturer of ship and offshore lifeboats and davits, has split its Norwegian headquarters and production facilities into four stand-alone companies. The move will separate out Norwegian operations and property from the international group management, and clarify responsibilities.

Ove Røssland, Umoe Schat-Harding CEO says, “We have grown rapidly over the last few years and are now a truly global group providing service and support everywhere in the world 24 hours a day. We have decentralised production and service to different countries close to our clients. To manage that efficiently we need a strong group senior management to serve all our international activities. Within Norway our operations can become more efficient by clarifying responsibilities and putting in place a structure more appropriate to our global size and product range.”

From January 1, 2010 Umoe Schat-Harding AS will split into: Umoe Schat-Harding Group AS, with senior management group responsibility located in Norway; Umoe Schat-Harding Equipment AS, the equipment division with total responsibility for new projects and production; Umoe Schat-Harding Services AS, the Norwegian service division with responsibility for its own products and services; and Umoe Schat-Harding Eiendom AS-, which will own and manage all USH property in Norway.

Says Røssland, “This business model better reflects the balance of the company’s business, which has become more global and moved more and more into service, and also prepares us for a challenging period ahead. We are getting good orders, we have innovative products, but we face a very tough market. We have a number of different legs to stand on, which enables us to face the future with optimism and confidence. Our clients and our staff should see a more responsive and effective management structure going forward.”
