Haren-Ems-based Meyering Bereederungs GmbH & Co. KG gained a surprise benefit recently when it chose Schat-Harding to provide a Fleet Service Agreement covering its fleet of two container ships and four general cargo vessels. Jens Meyering, Director, says, “It was very time consuming to manage the individual inspections and follow up services. We had to deal worldwide with different service organisations. We were impressed by the total FSA concept and the local office as a single point contact managing the complete LSA of our fleet worldwide. It is exactly what we were looking for.” The FSA covers multi-OEM equipment for the fleet which trades in North Europe and the Mediterranean.

In a surprise bonus SH was able to help with a broken anchor winch on one vessel in Istanbul. Says Jens Meyering, “We had an anchor winch problem which was nothing to do with the FSA but we asked SH for support as we needed someone who might know who could help locally. Their local service partner was able to make and exchange the broken anchor winch gears in a very professional manner over the weekend. The vessel could then leave Istanbul with no time lost. This huge time and cost saving has already paid back the complete FSA costs for the first year.”
